Srikanth Subbarao has more than 20 years of experience on policy, technology and capacity building aspects of low carbon energy and climate change mitigation. As a consultant and expert, he has carried out and contributed towards various international assignments for multi-lateral, bi-lateral agencies, institutional and private sector clients in renewable energy, climate change mitigation and environmental management sectors. His professional experience covers more than 20 developing countries in Asia, Pacific & Africa.
He has been extensively involved in the Pacific Island and African Countries on activities related to renewable energy, climate change mitigation policy and technical advisory services which includes: policy and technical advisory services, training and capacity building of stakeholders including policy makers and project developers; Low carbon development; Climate change mitigation; Renewable energy; Monitoring Reporting & Verification (MRV) frameworks and tools; International carbon finance; Climate Change Financing; Energy efficiency and conservation; Energy for economic development and poverty alleviation; Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and voluntary carbon; International carbon markets; National Communications to the UNFCCC; GHG Inventories; Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and sectoral mechanisms.
Srikanth has a PhD in climate change mitigation from University of Otago, New Zealand, masters in “Renewable Energy” from University of Oldenburg, Germany and a bachelor’s degree in “Environmental Engineering” from University of Mysore, India.
